The Kharkiv Tomiki Aikido Federation became an official branch of the Japan Aikido Association on May 22, 2000.

The Kharkiv Tomiki Aikido Federation is the first and the only official branch of the Japan Aikido Association (JAAS) in Ukraine.
Tomiki Aikido is a sports style of Aikido and includes tournaments in Kata and sparring.

This style of Aikido was founded by Kenji Tomiki.

His teaching was based on samurai ethics and Japanese traditional martial arts techniques. As a result Kenji Tomiki combined basic Aikido elements with the specific techniques taken from his own experience in classical Budo and real combats. Thus he created modern technique Tanto Randori-ho, which is a combat, when one wrestler is armed and the other one is unarmed.

Nowadays all these training techniques are used in Tomiki Aikido clubs all over the world.
Aikido Weapon Techniques which include use of Tanto (knife), Bokken (sword) and Jo (stick) are studied in the Kharkiv Tomiki Aikido Federation.

A special program for juniors and secondary schoolchildren was designed by our Federation. Our trainings help children grow up healthy and comprehensively developed. The program of trainings contains latest game trainings, which develop latent children’s abilities, creative thinking, attention, memory, intelligence, stamina, intuition, sensitivity and mental stability.
